CYPRUS

It is estimated that the settlement of people in Cyprus dates back to 10000 BC. As a result of the archaeological excavations in the south of the island, it was seen that the first human settlers left some buildings in 9000 BC and settled here during the Polished Stone Age. In addition, it is claimed that the first settlers started to come from Anatolia because the works in some historical settlements resemble each other. The island became independent in 1960 under the name of the Republic of Cyprus. Following the Greek coup in 1974, as a result of the Turkish Armed Forces' operation, a unilateral Turkish Cypriot Federated State was established as a de facto northern part of the island, which later became the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
With this cultural program, our students will gain insight into our recent past and understand the importance of Cyprus, which is known as Yavru Vatan, through martyrdom visits and will learn about our distant history while visiting the Othello Castles of Kyrenia.
